About the Honda City SX8
The SX8-generation Honda City marked the return of the City nameplate in 1996, transitioning from a small hatchback to a budget-focused subcompact sedan for emerging markets. Developed specifically for the ASEAN region, it was based on a modified EF Civic platform to keep costs low while maintaining Honda's reputation for engineering. The 1.3-litre D13B engine provided adequate performance for urban environments, paired with a lightweight chassis that offered surprisingly agile handling. While the interior was basic and utilitarian, its durability and fuel efficiency made it a massive commercial success across Southeast Asia and India.
