About the Chery Cowin
Launched in 2003, the Chery Cowin (also known as the A15 or Amulet) was a significant model for the burgeoning Chinese automotive industry. It was based on the first-generation SEAT Toledo, utilizing tooling purchased from the Spanish manufacturer and built on the Volkswagen Group A2 platform. While it offered a practical liftback design and affordable entry into car ownership, it gained notoriety for poor safety performance in independent crash tests. Despite these concerns, it was a commercial success in China and various export markets including Russia and Ukraine, serving as a staple for taxi fleets.
