About the Honda City GD
The fourth-generation Honda City, designated GD, was a significant departure from its predecessors, sharing its Global Small Car platform with the Fit/Jazz hatchback. Marketed primarily in emerging markets and Southeast Asia, it featured the 'Intelligent Dual & Sequential Ignition' (i-DSI) engine designed for maximum fuel efficiency rather than outright performance. Its most notable interior feature was the 'Ultra Seats' system, which allowed for multiple folding configurations to accommodate tall or bulky cargo. While its tall, narrow styling was polarizing, it gained a reputation for exceptional reliability and class-leading interior space.

Honda City GD fun facts
- The GD City was sold as the Honda Aria in Japan, where it was imported from Honda's manufacturing plant in Thailand.
- The i-DSI engine used two spark plugs per cylinder that fired at different intervals to ensure more complete combustion and better fuel economy.
- Despite being a sedan, it retained the Jazz's centre-mounted fuel tank layout, which is what enabled the versatile 'Ultra Seats' configuration.
