About the Buick Skylark
The 1968 Buick Skylark introduced the third generation of the nameplate, featuring a distinctive 'sweepspear' body line and a shorter 112-inch wheelbase for two-door models. While the Gran Sport handled high-performance duties, the standard Skylark 350 V8 offered a more balanced approach, providing smooth power and a higher level of interior refinement than its Chevrolet Chevelle cousin. The Buick-designed 350 V8 was unique to the division, known for its relatively light weight and high torque output compared to other GM small-blocks. Today, it is valued as an accessible entry point into the muscle car era, prized for its comfortable ride and classic A-body proportions.
