About the Buick GSX
Introduced mid-1970 to boost showroom traffic, the GSX was Buick's ultimate performance statement. While officially rated at 360 hp to appease insurance companies, the Stage 1 package featured high-flow heads, a hotter camshaft, and a massive 455 cubic-inch V8 that produced a record-breaking 510 lb-ft of torque. This torque figure remained the highest for any American production car for over 30 years. Only 678 GSXs were built in 1970, with 400 featuring the Stage 1 engine, making it one of the rarest and most sought-after A-body muscle cars.
