About the Buick Roadmaster
The 1958 Buick Roadmaster represents the absolute peak of 1950s American automotive excess, featuring more chrome trim than perhaps any other production car in history. As the flagship of the Buick line, it was powered by the 364 cubic-inch 'Fireball' V8 and introduced the 'Flight Pitch Dynaflow' transmission, which used three turbines to provide infinitely variable ratios. The 1958 model is easily identified by its 'Fashion-Aire Dynastar' grille, consisting of 160 chrome squares, and its massive 'Vista-Vision' wraparound windscreen. It was the final year for the Roadmaster name until its 1990s revival, marking the end of an era for Buick's premium luxury cruiser.
