About the Porsche 911 F-Series
The 1972 911 S represents the peak of the 'F-Series' long-hood generation, featuring the enlarged 2.4-litre engine and the new, stronger Type 915 gearbox. This specific model year is legendary among collectors for the 'Ölklappe'—an external oil filler door on the right rear wing intended to improve weight distribution by moving the oil tank forward. The feature was famously discontinued after just one year because owners frequently mistook it for the fuel filler. As the flagship performance model before the Carrera RS 2.7, the 2.4 S offers a pure, mechanical driving experience with its Bosch mechanical fuel injection and lightweight chassis.
