About the Lancia Aurelia B20
The Lancia Aurelia B20 GT is widely credited with inventing the 'Gran Turismo' concept, blending sports car performance with the refinement of a luxury saloon. Designed by Vittorio Jano, it was a technical marvel of its era, featuring the world's first production V6 engine, a rear-mounted transaxle for near-perfect weight distribution, and inboard rear brakes. The 2500 (Series 3 to 6) introduced the larger 2.5-litre engine, with Series 4 cars notably gaining a De Dion rear axle for improved handling. Its competition pedigree is legendary, having secured podium finishes at the Mille Miglia and Le Mans against far more powerful machinery.
