About the Nissan Gloria A30

The A30-generation Gloria was the first to be released following the 1966 merger of Prince and Nissan, though it remained largely a Prince design. Known as the 'Royal Line', its distinctive vertically stacked quad headlights were inspired by contemporary American luxury cars and the Prince Royal limousine used by the Japanese Imperial Household. While early models retained the Prince-designed G7 engine, the chassis moved away from the complex De Dion rear suspension to a more conventional leaf spring setup for better parts commonality. It represents a pivotal moment in Japanese automotive history, marking the transition of the Gloria from a standalone Prince flagship to a Nissan-badged executive staple.
