About the Toyota Crown S60

The fourth-generation Toyota Crown, known as the S60, represented a radical departure from its conservative predecessors with its 'spindle-shaped' styling. Its distinctive integrated bumpers and wrap-around indicators earned it the nickname 'Kujira' (Whale) in Japan. While the avant-garde design was initially polarizing and led to a sales slump against the rival Nissan Cedric, it is now celebrated as a high point of 1970s Japanese futurism. The 2.0-litre M-series inline-six provided smooth, refined power suitable for its role as a premium executive cruiser.
