About the Toyota Avalon XX30
The third-generation Toyota Avalon (XX30) represented a significant shift for the model, moving to a larger, more distinct platform that prioritised rear-seat comfort and American-style luxury. Developed primarily by Toyota's U.S. teams, it featured a flat rear floor and reclining rear seats, offering legroom that rivalled much more expensive European limousines. The 2005 model introduced the 2GR-FE V6, which provided surprisingly brisk acceleration for a full-sized sedan, often catching contemporary sports cars off guard. While it lacked the prestige of its Lexus ES sibling, the Avalon was widely regarded as a 'Lexus on a budget' due to its exceptional refinement and build quality.
