About the Toyota AA
The Model AA was the first production passenger car from the company then known as Toyoda, marking the transition from textile machinery to automotive manufacturing. Heavily inspired by the Chrysler Airflow, it featured a streamlined all-metal body and a 3.4-litre overhead-valve engine reverse-engineered from a Chevrolet Master. It was designed to offer superior ride comfort through balanced weight distribution, a novelty in the Japanese market at the time. For decades, it was believed that no original examples survived until a heavily modified 1936 model was discovered in Siberia in 2008, now residing in the Louwman Museum.

Toyota AA rarity in CarSpot
The Toyota AA is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 100 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.
Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works
Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.
Toyota AA fun facts
- The car was originally branded as 'Toyoda'; the name was changed to 'Toyota' in 1937 because the latter requires eight brush strokes to write, a lucky number in Japanese culture.
- Toyota was unable to find an original AA for its 50th anniversary in 1987 and had to build a complete replica from scratch for its museum.
- The only known surviving original Model AA was found on a Russian farm, where it had been used as a work vehicle for over 60 years.
