About the BYD Qin
Unveiled at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, the BYD Qin marked a significant shift for the Chinese manufacturer, replacing the F3DM as its flagship plug-in hybrid. It introduced the 'Dual Mode II' system, combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a powerful electric motor to deliver performance that rivalled contemporary European hot hatches. The Qin was the first model in BYD's 'Dynasty' series, named after the first imperial dynasty of China. While its exterior styling was conservative, its interior featured advanced technology for the time, including a 12.1-inch TFT instrument cluster and a unique remote-driving function.
