About the Porsche 911 Turbo 997
The 997.1 Turbo is the final evolution of the legendary 'Mezger' flat-six engine, derived from the GT1 Le Mans racer, making it a cornerstone for Porsche collectors. It introduced Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG), which significantly reduced turbo lag and provided a broader torque curve compared to its predecessor. While the Tiptronic automatic was faster on paper, the six-speed manual remains the most sought-after configuration for its mechanical engagement. Its all-wheel-drive system and active aerodynamics ensure it remains a benchmark for usable, everyday supercar performance.
