About the Porsche 911 Turbo 993
The 993 Turbo represents the ultimate evolution of the air-cooled Porsche 911, introducing twin-turbocharging and all-wheel drive to the flagship model for the first time. Its 3.6-litre M64/60 engine utilised two smaller KKK K16 turbos to virtually eliminate the lag of its predecessors, delivering a smooth yet relentless surge of power. The inclusion of a 959-derived all-wheel-drive system transformed the Turbo from a 'widowmaker' into a sophisticated, all-weather supercar. As the last of the hand-assembled, air-cooled Turbos, it is widely considered by collectors to be the high-water mark of the 911's analogue era.
