About the Honda Civic Type R FN2
The FN2-generation Civic Type R was a bold departure from its predecessor, trading the independent rear suspension for a simpler torsion beam and adopting a radical, wedge-shaped design. While critics initially bemoaned the lack of a power increase, the K20Z4 engine remained a masterpiece of high-revving engineering, delivering its peak output at a stratospheric 7,800 rpm. The interior was equally revolutionary, featuring a 'Dual Link' dashboard and excellent Alcantara sports seats. Today, it is appreciated for its sharp steering, daily practicality, and being one of the last naturally aspirated Type Rs before the move to turbocharging.

Honda Civic Type R FN2 fun facts
- The FN2 was built exclusively at Honda's Swindon plant in the UK, even for units exported back to the Japanese market as the 'Type R EURO'.
- Early models lacked a limited-slip differential, which was only introduced as standard across the range following the 2008 Championship White special edition.
- The car's triangular exhaust tips are actually integrated into the rear bumper trim rather than being directly attached to the exhaust piping.
