About the Honda Civic Type R EK9
Honda introduced the EK9 Civic Type R in 1997 as a Japanese-market performance flagship for its sixth-generation hatchback. The hand-finished B16B engine produces 185 PS from just 1.6 litres, encouraging drivers to explore the upper reaches of the rev range. A close-ratio manual gearbox, helical limited-slip differential and weight-saving measures sharpened its responses. Red Recaro seats and Championship White paint became enduring visual signatures of Honda’s Type R programme.
