About the Subaru SVX

The Subaru SVX, known as the Alcyone SVX in Japan, was a bold attempt by Subaru to enter the luxury performance market. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign, its most striking feature is the aircraft-inspired glass-to-glass canopy with distinctive split side windows. While its heavy kerb weight and mandatory four-speed automatic transmission limited its outright sporting credentials, it excelled as a high-speed, all-weather grand tourer. Today, it is a cult classic valued for its avant-garde styling and the smooth delivery of its EG33 boxer engine.
