About the Datsun on-DO
Launched in 2014, the Datsun on-DO marked the revival of the Datsun brand as a budget-focused marque for emerging markets. Developed specifically for Russia, it is based on the Lada Granta platform but features unique styling and a revised interior designed at Nissan's Global Design Centre in Japan. The car was engineered to handle harsh climates and poor road conditions, featuring a high ground clearance of 174mm and a massive 530-litre boot. While basic in its construction, it offered a more refined alternative to domestic Russian vehicles before production ceased in 2020 following Nissan's global restructuring.

Datsun on-DO fun facts
- The name 'on-DO' combines the Russian word 'on' (he) with the Japanese 'do' (way or moving), intended to convey masculinity and mobility.
- Despite its Japanese branding, the on-DO was manufactured alongside Lada models at the AvtoVAZ plant in Tolyatti, Russia.
- The car features a specifically tuned suspension and increased insulation compared to its Lada Granta sibling to better suit Russian driving preferences.
