About the Ford Falcon

The second-generation Ford Falcon arrived in 1964 with a more squared-off, 'formal' design language compared to the rounded original. While the V8-powered Futura and Sprint models grabbed headlines, the 170 cubic-inch (2.8-litre) straight-six remained the quintessential choice for the American commuter. Its simple, lightweight unibody construction made it efficient for the era and provided the chassis architecture that Lee Iacocca famously repurposed for the first Mustang. Today, these six-cylinder sedans are appreciated for their ease of maintenance and as approachable entry points into 1960s American car ownership.
