About the BMW 2000 New Class
The BMW 2000 was the flagship of the 'Neue Klasse' (New Class) range, a series of cars that rescued BMW from financial ruin in the 1960s. While the smaller 02 Series gained more fame, the 2000 sedan offered a more mature executive experience with its distinctive rectangular headlights and spacious three-box design. It featured the legendary M10 engine, which provided smooth, reliable power and would later serve as the basis for BMW's Formula 1 engines. Its fully independent suspension and front disc brakes established the handling benchmarks that would define BMW's identity for decades.
