About the Ford Falcon EA-ED

Launched in March 1988, the EA series represented a $700 million investment by Ford Australia to modernise the Falcon for the 1990s. It introduced a sleek, aerodynamic body inspired by the European Ford Scorpio and featured a new single overhead camshaft (SOHC) inline-six engine. While the 'Simply Stunning' launch was marred by early quality issues and the lack of a four-speed automatic at debut, the EA was a significant technical step forward, featuring rack and pinion steering and a sophisticated front suspension. The 3.9-litre Multi-Point Injection (MPI) variant was the performance hero, offering a driving experience that felt considerably more modern than its predecessor.
