About the Ford Falcon BA-BF
The BA Falcon represented a massive $500 million investment to rectify the failures of the preceding AU series, introducing a more conservative 'New Edge' design and significantly improved interior quality. It marked the debut of the 'Barra 182' engine, a sophisticated dual-overhead-cam straight-six that became an Australian engineering icon for its durability and tuning potential. The BA also introduced the 'Control Blade' independent rear suspension across the sedan range, vastly improving ride and handling over its predecessors. While the XT was the fleet-focused entry model, its mechanical foundations were so strong that it won 'Best Family Car' awards multiple times during its production run.
