About the Dodge Dart
Introduced for 1968, the Dart GTS (GT Sport) transformed Dodge's compact A-body into a legitimate muscle car. While the 383 big-block was available, many enthusiasts preferred the new 340 cubic-inch 'LA' V8 for its superior balance and high-revving nature. It featured a forged steel crank, high-flow heads, and a Carter AVS four-barrel carburettor, officially rated at 275 hp but widely considered under-reported. As a member of the 'Scat Pack', it wore distinctive bumblebee rear stripes and hood power bulges, offering a power-to-weight ratio that could embarrass much larger B-body machines on the street.
