About the Dodge Challenger T/A
The 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A is a legendary homologation special built for the SCCA Trans-Am racing series. It is distinguished by its matte-black fibreglass hood with a massive 'Scat Scoop', side-exit megaphone exhausts, and a unique staggered tyre setup—one of the first production cars to feature wider rear rubber. Under the hood, the 340 cubic-inch V8 is topped with three two-barrel Holley carburetors, a setup known as the 'Six Pack'. While the SCCA race cars used a de-stroked 305 V8, the street T/A offered a high-revving, balanced alternative to the heavy big-block Hemis, making it a favourite for its superior handling and aggressive 'street-punk' stance.

Dodge Challenger T/A fun facts
- The Challenger T/A was one of the first production cars to use different sized tyres on the front (E60x15) and rear (G60x15).
- Its side-exit exhausts were so loud and unique that they required the rear leaf springs to be arched differently to provide clearance for the megaphone tips.
- Though officially rated at 290 hp to appease insurance companies, period dyno tests suggested the 340 Six Pack actually produced closer to 320-350 hp.
