About the Holden Monaro GTS HQ
The HQ series Monaro GTS represented a significant shift for Holden, introducing a more sophisticated, European-influenced design compared to the previous HK-HG generations. While the GTS 350 remained the flagship, the 308 cubic-inch (5.0L) V8 version was the volume performance choice, offering a locally developed engine with excellent torque. It is distinguished by its four functional 'gill' vents on the front guards, dual racing stripes, and unique blacked-out grille. The HQ was the first Monaro to feature four-wheel coil spring suspension, providing a more compliant ride than its leaf-sprung predecessors.
