About the Chevrolet Camaro SS first-generation
The first Camaro arrived for 1967 as Chevrolet’s answer to the Ford Mustang. Its Super Sport package combined stronger engines, upgraded suspension and distinctive SS body details. This 1969 SS 396 has the L35 396-cubic-inch big-block V8 and a four-speed manual; its 325 hp rating is period SAE gross, not modern SAE net. The L34 and L78 396 options offered higher outputs.
