About the Chevrolet Impala
The 1964 Impala SS represents the final year of the third-generation styling, characterised by its sharp, squared-off lines and iconic triple-unit taillights. While the Super Sport (SS) package became its own distinct model this year, the '409' engine remained the ultimate performance choice, featuring dual four-barrel Carter carburettors in its highest output. It offers a quintessential American cruiser experience, combining a massive footprint with surprising straight-line speed. As the last of the 'big-block' Impalas before the 396 took over, the 409 remains a highly coveted piece of Americana.
