About the Dodge Coronet
The 1954 Dodge Coronet represents the final year of the model's second generation and the peak of its early Hemi development. Positioned as a mid-range offering below the new Royal series, it featured the 241-cubic inch 'Red Ram' V8, Dodge's first overhead-valve Hemi engine. This powerplant allowed Dodge to secure nearly 200 AAA stock car speed records at Bonneville, cementing a performance reputation that would define the brand for decades. While its styling was conservative compared to the upcoming 'Forward Look' era, the Coronet was praised for its smooth ride and the efficiency of its hemispherical combustion chambers.
