About the Dodge Coronet
The seventh-generation Coronet was Dodge's intermediate for the 1975 and 1976 model years, a squarer restyle of the Chrysler B-body shared with the Plymouth Fury and built at the Dodge Main plant in Hamtramck, Michigan. Saloons and estates were joined by a two-door hardtop for 1975 only, before that body became the 1976 Charger Sport, and engines ran from the 225 Slant Six through 318 and 360 V8s to a 400, with a 440 reserved for police cars. The 1975 range rose from base through Custom to Brougham, with the woodgrain-trimmed Crestwood at the top of the estates, and the Custom was dropped for 1976. The representative 1975 Custom saloon pairs the optional 318 V8, rated at 145 hp (SAE net), with the optional three-speed TorqueFlite automatic in place of the standard three-speed manual. For 1977 the same cars were renamed Monaco, ending a Dodge name first used in 1949.
