About the BMW M5 G90

The seventh-generation BMW M5, designated G90, marks a radical shift for the nameplate by adopting a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It pairs a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor integrated into the transmission, delivering a combined 727 PS (717 hp) and 1,000 Nm of torque. While it is the most powerful M5 in history, the hybrid system and increased dimensions result in a significant weight gain to 2,435 kg, making it heavier than many luxury SUVs. Despite the mass, BMW M engineers have utilised active anti-roll systems, rear-wheel steering, and a rear-biased xDrive system to maintain the model's signature agility and high-speed stability.
