About the BMW M5 E39
The E39 M5 is widely considered the high-water mark for the sports saloon, blending understated executive styling with genuine supercar performance. It was the first M5 to utilise a V8 engine, the S62, which featured individual throttle bodies and double-VANOS for a sharp, linear response. Unlike its hand-built predecessors, it was produced on the standard Dingolfing assembly line, yet it retained a purely analogue driving experience with its mandatory six-speed manual gearbox. Its balance of daily usability and engaging dynamics has made it one of the most sought-after modern classics in the BMW M stable.
