About the BMW M5 F90
The F90 M5 marked a paradigm shift for BMW M, introducing the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system to handle its immense power while retaining a '2WD' mode for traditionalists. Powered by a heavily revised S63 twin-turbo V8, it delivers supercar-rivalling acceleration in a refined executive package. It features a carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof to lower the centre of gravity and an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission that replaced the previous dual-clutch unit. As a collector car, it represents the peak of pure V8 M5s before the transition to heavy hybridisation in the G90 generation.
