About the BMW 3.0 CSL E9

The BMW 3.0 CSL (Coupé Sport Leichtbau) was developed as a homologation special to allow BMW to compete in the European Touring Car Championship. The 1973 'Batmobile' version is the most iconic, featuring a radical aerodynamic package including a large rear wing, roof spoiler, and front fender fins. Weight was significantly reduced through the use of thinner steel, aluminium body panels, and stripped-out interiors. It dominated touring car racing throughout the 1970s, winning six European titles and establishing BMW Motorsport's reputation for performance.
