About the Skoda Fabia Mk1
The Mk1 Škoda Fabia was a pivotal model for the Czech brand, being the first to utilise the Volkswagen Group's A04 (PQ24) platform ahead of the VW Polo and SEAT Ibiza. The 1.4-litre 8v engine in the Comfort trim was a refined version of Škoda's own long-running pushrod unit, offering dependable if modest performance. It was widely praised for its solid build quality and class-leading interior space, famously winning What Car? magazine's Car of the Year award in 2000. Today, it is remembered as the car that successfully transitioned Škoda from a budget outlier to a mainstream reliability leader.
