About the SEAT Leon Mk2
The second-generation SEAT Leon, designed by Walter de Silva, moved away from the traditional three-box hatchback shape towards a more curvaceous, MPV-inspired silhouette with hidden rear door handles. Built on the Volkswagen Group A5 (PQ35) platform, it shared its mechanical underpinnings with the Golf Mk5 but was tuned for a firmer, more sporting drive. The 1.9-litre TDI engine used 'Pumpe Düse' unit injector technology, known for its punchy low-end torque and exceptional long-term reliability. While less refined than the later 1.6-litre common-rail units, this engine remains a favourite for high-mileage drivers due to its robust nature.
