About the MG MG3 Mk1
Launched in 2013 as the first truly modern MG supermini for the UK market, the MG3 was designed to offer a fun, customisable alternative to budget rivals like the Dacia Sandero. While its 1.5-litre VTi-Tech engine is often criticised for being unrefined and lacking low-end torque, the car's chassis received significant praise for its direct hydraulic steering and composed handling. Early models were assembled at the historic Longbridge plant using kits from China, maintaining a symbolic link to the brand's heritage. It remains a popular choice for young drivers due to its low insurance groups and distinctive styling options.
