About the SEAT Leon Mk1
The Mk1 SEAT Leon was the first model to establish the brand as a sporty, design-led alternative within the Volkswagen Group. Based on the A4 (PQ34) platform shared with the VW Golf Mk4 and Audi A3, it featured a more aggressive, curved body styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The 1.6 S was a popular mid-range trim, balancing affordability with a decent level of equipment and the reliability of the 16-valve Volkswagen engine. While not as fast as the Cupra models, it offered a more engaging driving experience than the contemporary Golf due to its slightly firmer suspension tuning.
