About the Plymouth Fury
The 1974 Plymouth Fury represents the final year of the full-size C-body architecture before the nameplate was moved to the smaller B-body platform. Redesigned for this single model year, it featured a more squared-off 'formal' look with a significant increase in glass area compared to the previous 'fuselage' styling. The 400 cubic-inch (6.6L) V8 was the mid-range choice, offering smooth, torque-heavy cruising despite the era's tightening emissions standards. While it lacked the raw aggression of earlier muscle cars, its Torsion-Quiet Ride and massive interior space made it a quintessential American highway cruiser. Today, it is a rare sight, valued by collectors for its unique one-year-only styling and status as the last of the 'big' Furys.
