About the Plymouth Fury
The 1959 Plymouth Fury marked the final year of the second-generation body style and the pinnacle of the 'Forward Look' design era. Distinguished by its massive, outward-canted tailfins and 'double-barrel' front fenders, it was one of the most flamboyant cars of the late 1950s. The 318 cubic-inch 'Poly' V8 provided respectable performance for a full-size cruiser, often paired with the dependable push-button TorqueFlite automatic transmission. While the Sport Fury took the top-tier spot this year, the standard Fury remained a highly desirable high-line model before Plymouth moved to unibody construction in 1960.
