About the Peugeot 408
Launched in 2010 at the Beijing Auto Show, the first-generation Peugeot 408 was a strategic saloon developed primarily for the Chinese and Latin American markets. Despite its name, it was not a successor to the 407 but rather a long-wheelbase version of the 308 hatchback, utilizing the PSA PF2 platform. It was designed to offer class-leading rear legroom and a large boot, catering to the preference for traditional three-box saloons in its target regions. The 1.6-litre TU5JP4 engine provided reliable, if modest, performance suited for urban commuting and family duties.
