About the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII
The Lancer Evolution VIII marked a significant milestone as the first Evo to be officially imported to the UK by Mitsubishi Motors, ending the era of grey-market dominance. The FQ-300 was a UK-specific trim developed by Ralliart, featuring a remapped ECU and upgraded exhaust to push the 4G63 engine past the 300 bhp mark. It introduced the Super Active Yaw Control (Super AYC) system, which significantly improved cornering agility by transferring torque between the rear wheels more effectively than previous versions. As a driver's car, it is celebrated for its telepathic steering and immense mechanical grip, though the FQ-300 was eventually overshadowed by the even more extreme FQ-320 and FQ-400 variants.
