About the Honda Pilot YF3
The second-generation Honda Pilot (YF3) moved away from the soft styling of its predecessor in favour of a more truck-like, utilitarian aesthetic. It was designed primarily for the North American market, focusing on interior space and clever storage solutions, including a class-leading third row that could actually accommodate adults. The 3.5-litre J35Z4 V6 featured Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) to improve fuel efficiency by shutting down two or three cylinders during cruising. While not a dedicated off-roader, its car-based platform provided car-like handling and better road manners than contemporary body-on-frame rivals.
