About the Suzuki XL7
The second-generation Suzuki XL7 represented a significant departure from its predecessor, moving from a rugged body-on-frame chassis to the unibody GM Theta platform shared with the Chevrolet Equinox. It was powered by a GM-designed 3.6-litre N36A V6 engine built by Suzuki under licence in Japan, providing a substantial power increase over the previous model. While it offered a spacious three-row interior and a car-like ride, it struggled to find an audience in a crowded market dominated by the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot. Production ended prematurely in 2009 due to declining sales and the impacts of the global financial crisis.
