About the Honda Civic

The seventh-generation Honda Civic marked a significant shift for the model, moving away from the sporty double-wishbone suspension of its predecessors in favour of a more space-efficient MacPherson strut setup. This change allowed for a flat rear floor and a 'monospace' design that offered class-leading interior room. The 1.6 SE trim was a popular mid-range choice in the UK, balancing decent equipment levels with the reliable D16V1 VTEC engine. While less engaging to drive than earlier Civics, it earned a reputation for peerless reliability and sensible ergonomics, including a unique dashboard-mounted gear lever.
