About the Hillman Minx Phase I-VIII
The Hillman Minx Phase I-VIII series represents the evolution of the British family car through the austerity of the post-war era. While the Phase I and II models were largely based on pre-war designs, the 1947 Phase II introduced a more integrated look before the Raymond Loewy-styled 'three-box' Phase III arrived in 1948. The 1.3-litre side-valve engine, though modest in output, was prized for its reliability and ease of maintenance. These cars were instrumental in the Rootes Group's export drive, helping to mobilise a generation of drivers across the Commonwealth.
