About the Ford Taurus
The sixth-generation Ford Taurus was a significant departure from its predecessor, moving to the D3 platform to offer a more substantial, premium feel. For the 2013 facelift, the standard 3.5-litre Ti-VCT V6 received a power bump to 288 hp and improved fuel efficiency through the addition of twin independent variable camshaft timing. While it lacks the agility of its European rivals, it excels as a long-distance cruiser with a cavernous interior and a massive 569-litre boot. This generation marked the final iteration of the Taurus nameplate in North America before Ford shifted its focus toward SUVs and trucks.

Ford Taurus fun facts
- The 2013 refresh introduced Active Grille Shutters to the Taurus, which close at high speeds to reduce aerodynamic drag and improve fuel economy.
- This generation of Taurus served as the basis for the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan, which replaced the long-running Crown Victoria in many North American fleets.
- The exterior design was led by Earl Lucas and was intended to give the car a more 'athletic' and 'muscular' stance compared to the softer lines of the fifth generation.
