About the Ford Taurus
The fifth-generation Ford Taurus arrived in 2007 as a rebranded and significantly updated version of the Ford Five Hundred. Revived by CEO Alan Mulally, the nameplate returned to a car that was now a full-size sedan, offering class-leading interior space and a massive 21-cubic-foot boot. It featured the new 3.5-litre Duratec V6, which provided a substantial power increase over its predecessor, paired with a smooth six-speed automatic transmission. While its styling was conservative, it was highly regarded for its safety ratings and refined ride quality, serving as Ford's flagship sedan until the sixth generation debuted for 2010.

Ford Taurus fun facts
- The 2008 Taurus was essentially a facelifted Ford Five Hundred, renamed just months before launch because Ford's new CEO believed the Taurus name was too valuable to abandon.
- At its launch, it was marketed as the 'Safest Full-size Car in America' after earning five-star crash test ratings in all categories from the NHTSA.
- The car's D3 platform was originally derived from Volvo's P2 architecture, which also underpinned the first-generation Volvo XC90.
