About the Dodge Polara
The 1971 Dodge Polara represents the peak of Chrysler's 'Fuselage' design era, featuring a distinctive loop bumper that wraps around the grille and headlights. As a full-sized C-body offering, it prioritised a smooth, quiet ride and expansive interior space over raw muscle car aggression. While the 318 cubic-inch V8 was the standard entry-level powerplant, the Polara's chassis was robust enough to serve as the primary choice for many American law enforcement agencies. By 1971, the model began to feel the effects of tightening emissions standards, marking the beginning of the end for the unrestricted American land yacht.
