About the Buick LeSabre
The 1965 Buick LeSabre marked the debut of the model's third generation, featuring a complete restyling with a 'Coke-bottle' profile and a new perimeter frame. While the standard LeSabre used a 300 cubic-inch V8, the 401 cubic-inch 'Nailhead' V8 (often marketed as the 400 in certain packages) provided the effortless torque expected of a premium cruiser. It was Buick's best-selling full-size model, bridging the gap between mainstream Chevrolets and flagship Cadillacs with superior build quality and a famously smooth 'cloud-like' ride. Collectors prize the 1965 models for their clean, semi-fastback rooflines and the introduction of the advanced Super Turbine 400 automatic transmission.

Buick LeSabre fun facts
- The 1965 LeSabre featured Buick's famous 'Nailhead' V8, so named because of its unusually small, vertically mounted valves that resembled nails.
- For the 1965 model year, Buick dropped the station wagon from the LeSabre line, leaving only sedans, coupes, and convertibles.
- The 'LeSabre 400' package name actually referred to the heavy-duty Super Turbine 400 transmission rather than the engine displacement.
